You could say this happened to the Roman Empire. It kind of faded out of existence over hundreds of years. My feeling is that global corporate interests will supersede national governments at some point. We are seeing this with Elon musk at this point. He basically bought a president. Who’s next? The walls between corporations and government have crumbled. I’m not sure how this will end up.
