You are right, these are just the realization of boyhood dreams to travel in space like Star Trek, except that will never happen. They will never be able to leave earth. Mars is inhospitable and there is no monetary value there. At least with the moon, it's possible to mine some valuable minerals and ship them back but again, not a place where you can live your whole life. These guys have no plans, except to control access to space in the future because they will have the infrastructure in place when the time comes to actually do some interesting things in space.
