Why the United States will succeed (for now)

I am not one of those American exceptionalist by any means. I think the American system of democracy has deep flaws. Flaws that may eventually bring down this huge country, but that day is not today. The downfall of the United States might be in 4 years or 400 years but it is not inedible. Why do I say that?

First, the United States is a big, diverse country and is getting more diverse every day. Look what happened in Arizona and Georgia. States that people never thought could move back to a more liberal stance, have done exactly that. I don’t think Texas is very far behind. The once impenetrable wall of JesusLand is falling apart, piece by piece. Virginia, Georgia, New Mexico, Arizona, Nevada, Colorado. The beat goes one. Slowly but surely the Red middle will evaporate. The share of whites in this country is shrinking or becoming more diffuse. This can only be good for a liberal democracy that values people and a diverse population. People want to live here still. It is still a land of opportunity.

Secondly, corporate America has woken up to the existential threat of white nationalism. You are seeing it in action today. Right after the Capitol riots, corporate money stopped flowing to politicians that supported the insurrection and the false narrative that Trump won the election.
