While what you say is true. In Facebook if I post something to my profile it only goes out to my friends. Random strangers can’t see it. It’s when you start joining groups or follow something where there are thousands or even millions of people that can see what you are writing. This is where social media manipulation starts. Facebook starts feeding you stuff based on your “interests”. But what it seems to have turned into is a dystopian 1984ish Big Brother that feeds you stuff based on an algorithm. The algorithm is trying to keep you on the platform as long as possible to feed you more ads to sell you more shit. Also there are almost to censors telling you right from wrong. This is nothing like going down to the local bar and having a friendly discussion. Because when you are face to face with real people you self moderate. When it’s an anonymous virtual person people just say whatever crazy shit is at the top of their to tongue.
