Well, yes and no. Depends on where you move. Google announced that you would get a cut based on a Federal chart on COLA adjustments. Personally, I think it's stupid to reduce someone's salary but going forward if they hire a remote worker from Iowa or North Dakota then offer them less money but to reduce current employee's salaries is just idiotic. OTOH, moving to a very cheap area on a Google salary would more than set you up like a king. The average home price in Silicon Valley is around $2.3 million. Where my mother lives in Arizona it's about $500k for a really nice house. Plus no commute expenses. The savings even after a pay cut are substantial.
