Well, if you look at history we always seem to pick the better path, eventually. Sure, it's paved with a lot of misery but eventually things always seem to get better. Xi's China is better than the communists, although they are back sliding, it is better. Same with Putin's Russia, much better than Soviet Union. As time grinds on, I think technology and people will make things better. There is no way around it.
