Unfortunately, you can say this about any place in the world right now. Anything new looks the same everywhere. When I lived in Germany everything after WWII looks exactly the same. Same for the Soviet Union. We glorify old buildings but do nothing to encourage interesting architecture anymore.

But you know, people want it that way. They don't want to deal with the idiosyncrasies of regional differences in anything from fast food or cars or clothes and now architecture. People want to be able to move from one place in this country to another without dealing with any of it. The sameness of it all.

Wait until we take humans out of the design and building of it all. Machine learning, AI and robots building your next apartment complex!
