To your point, there were entry level jobs back in the day. There used to be a time when companies would hire you and train you up. Now they want a fully formed mid level worker. Now there is minimum wage jobs with very little way to advance. Listening to my children and their friends finding jobs that pay a decent wage out of college is near impossible. The competition is insane.

And I do blame Reagan and his cronies for screwing up the economy for decades to come with this bullshit Trickle Down economics strategy. 50 years later that experiment failed miserably. There is no trickle down. The Oligarchs have hoarded the wealth and are not trickling down anything.
