This must be a UK problem. Traveling mainland Europe and in the USA I have not had any problem finding local farmers markets and/or farm stands even in some big cities. Sure there are food deserts in some of the most downtrodden inner city ghettos, what city doesn't have that? Maybe you shouldn't expect your local grocer to have the same produce they have at the farmers market was at in Southern France a couple of years ago. The UK is literally at the same latitude as most of middle of Canada, not exactly known for growing a lot of produce or animals. Plus there is Brexit killing off so much local trade. Honestly, if you want to live that life where farmer's markets and local produce is in abundance, just move somewhere close to that... That's what I did
