The GOP had been waiting for decades for a charasmatic leader to take them to the promised land (which I guess is fascism) and Trump came along and while many of the GOP leaders hated (probably still hate) the idea of him, they love that they have such a loyal base they can manipulate to their will. Unfortunately for them, Trump is a bumbling fool and is surrounded by idiots. That will be his undoing.

Also, on the write in thing. That's too much work for his base. Sure they are loyal but it's anymore than checking a box or filling in a circle, I doubt they will be able to figure out how write in works. I think he'd have a much better time as an independent because he already has a large following in every state. Either way, there is no way he can win fair and square and they know that. This is why they rigging the elections as we read this.
