That was me! I agree that if Trump doesn't win, he won't be going anywhere. The media will still cover him because of their need for eyeballs and clicks. In the big picture, the conservative movement isn't going anywhere as long as we have the likes of Fox news and the internet which makes it so easy to spew hate and conspiracy... I would put a couple of Benjamins on Trump not making it four more years either to dementia or a heart attack. He looks awful right now.

BUT, to the original question. Maybe this country needs to hit rock bottom. Trump as president. Millions of immigrants rounded up like Jews during the holocaust, stock market collapse, firing of tens of thousands of federal employees, Ukraine falling to Russia, Israel on a rampage in the middle east, rolling back more environmental protections, abortion, LGBTQ rights, etc etc.. while Trump plays golf... Buyer's Remorse sets in rather quickly... maybe, just maybe it's bad enough that people remember how bad Trump can be. Unlike this fantasy we have now that people think his presidency was actually a good thing for the country.

I don't know what it will take to put this MAGA monster to bed and we can get past it and start acting like a functioning democracy again. Getting stuff done. Creating a real social safety net. But my prediction is that it will have to be something really bad like an internecine war (I won't call it a civil war) to shake us out of this stupor we are in now.
