Several things going on here. We are in late stage capitalism where things start to fall apart no matter who is in charge. Capitalist will continue to amass wealth into a handful of individuals.

On the news media, because we don't have fair news reporting anymore and it's all about making money, if it bleeds it leads. War and Trump are what drive viewers.

On the economy people are lazy and have a memory of a gnat. I think complaining is an American sport at this point. Americans look at like three things and say the economy is "bad". Food prices, gas prices and the stock market. It's too much work for most people to think about anything else. Gas prices up, Blame Biden...

The good news is that most people under the age of 40 barely watch CNN or Fox, they get their news from social media and it's highly curated to their tastes so like my 21 year old son barely knows about national politics because he's tuned it all out.
