Remote work is here to stay and for one reason only. It’s saves companies huge amounts of money. Having worked in an office for 30 years working from home is a good solution for many jobs. Managers are lazy. They need to justify their existence by micromanaging and attending meetings. I think what most people hate is the arbitrary nature where people were happier at home and for the most part productive. With todays open office plans, I found it nearly impossible to get work done. Weak management and lack of oversight causes problems for remote employees. For every study that you throw up that shows how unproductive WFH is, I can find just as many that shows how productive it is.

At the end of the day, most of these companies are flat out lying because of offshoring. Rules for thee and not for me.
