My son, who picked up Japanese on his own and through high school, just passed the N2 exam for fluency and is studying in Tokyo right now tells me there is a huge influx of foreigners there. They can't legally work there but love the low exchange rate and all this Pokemon, Anime and Manga are not helping things. Many teenagers in western cultures are obsessed with Japanese culture right now.
