I’ve written about this and have read extensively on this topic. With all the factors we now know including Kepler and Webb data is that there is likely 1000 technologically advanced civilizations in the galaxy. One question that gets asked a lot is where are the Von Neumann probes? (Self replicating robots) we are almost to that level of technology ourselves. But still space is vast and dangerous. We still don’t have the technology to directly view planets around another system. Especially small planets like ours. Remember we’ve only had lasers for 60 years. We haven’t barely searched for laser communications from other planets. Even at 1000 civilizations in our galaxy our nearest neighbor might be 1000 light years away. Too far for any meaningful communication. We might not be alone but we might as well be.
