I've been a daily drinker for maybe 40 years. Some beer, some wine but never mixed drinks or straight booze. Never liked it. But when you get into your early 60s your body can't metabolize it like it did when you were in your 30s or even early 50s. I remember going out in my 30s and easily drinking a six pack on a friday night. Minor headache and queasy stomach the next morning and by noon ready to go out again the next night. I've been fairly good and stopping when my friends would just drink the night away. My wife sounds just like you. Partied hard in her 20s and 30s and then had kids and slowed down. But still could go all night drinking on special occasions. But now, I have two beers and I will have a crappy night of sleep. I've had acid reflux and high blood pressure for years. But we've cut waaaay back this year. No drinking during the week and just a drink or two on weekend nights and my sleeping has gotten much better and my energy levels and attention span much better. There has been a significant drop in my blood pressure. We are in the fourth week of doing this and now I can't imagine going back to daily drinking. I wish I had done this sooner. Thankfully, this told me although we had issues with alcohol we were not dependent on it and it was fairly easy to cut back once we made the effort thank god. I will not stop drinking but it's not going to be a daily thing anymore.
