I’m near Seattle and real estate is absolutely nuts here. We are in our early 60s and still working a couple more years. But have been trying to figure out what to do with our house. Our equity is about $2 million (I know we won the real estate lottery) but our kids are nearby and we aren’t ready to move to an apartment. We thought Arizona quite a bit since my mother is retired and has been living there for twenty years. That is a backup plan. The main problem around here is that there is nothing to downsize too without costing over $1 million. We might just age in place and do a reverse mortgage. Don’t get me started on property taxes. They are ridiculous out here. We need a California style property tax revolt.
