I will agree and disagree with you. I worked at the CIA for 10 years many years ago. My parents both worked there. At one point, my mother did the daily briefing with the president at the White House in the 1990s. I worked in the polygraph division when I was going to college (as an admin type person) eventually doing computer programming in the Directorate of Operations. I was steeped in clearances and had many compartmentalized kicker clearances. (btw, I hated working there and escaped to the west coast decades ago).

Over classification of information within the defense/intelligence realm is a real problem. It was a bigger problem when everything was on paper because it had to be stored somewhere. Everything written on a computer at the CIA is automatically labeled SECRET and many TOP SECRET just for existing and may not actually contain anything of value. It's just the default. Now with everything in the ether, it's much easier to just store things without thinking about it.

Having said that, my retired mother and others I know were aghast at what Trump had stolen. She immediately knew from the covers on the documents this was the most secret of secrets the USA has. Sources and Methods and Assets. Don't dismiss the amount of damage Trump did and will continue to do if reelected
