I think before Trump they were mostly Idealogues like Newt Gingrich and his ilk. But since Trump, they were given tacit permission to A) profit as much as they could from being in office B) be as obnoxious as possible. At least Putin has the sheen of professionalism, these idiot just want to steal your money and yell and scream at you the whole time. Unfortunately, 40% of the electorate likes this and that's why it's allowed to continue. It's the great dumbing down of America on reality TV...
