I read an interesting take on the readiness of Russia's nuclear weapons. Tritium is crucial to make them go boom and it has a half life of 12.5 years. So, you constantly have to make Tritium and top up the bombs. Russia has nowhere near the capacity to make Tritium for all their nuclear weapons. They might be feeding only a fraction of their weapons Tritium at this point. Maybe all they have is dirty bombs? Who knows but I suspect that Russia's working nuclear arsenal is a fraction of the height of Soviet Union.
