I live in a town with a big wine and beer industry. I’m mean hundreds of tasting rooms. It’s a suburb of Seattle. I’ve seen firsthand these parents that think they are the main character and their precious cargo needs to come along with them 7x24. There is a lot of overconsumption and inappropriate behavior. We have a concert venue that can get quite out of control and I frequently see these self absorbed parents lugging their kids around with headphones and a iPad to keep them busy while mommy and daddy party. We never did this with our kids. They had enough stimulation in their life and dragging them to a noisy brewery so the parents can enjoy a pint. You know what just don’t do it or get a babysitter.

We spent two weeks in Japan last summer. Every day we saw American parents dragging around infants. Several times we just stared in disbelief at the torture these kids were going through so mommy could instagram herself back to her friends.

I love my kids but we never put them through these tortures. Sure we gave up some adult time but it was only for a few years until we could get babysitting.
