I agree with you but not with your last statement. The question of why they are acting this way has been debated and picked over since Trump started running for office. There are two whys. Why do politicians do this and why do the followers do this? The politician's part is easy, it's for money and power. The reason the millions of MAGA followers do it is a much deeper question and whole books have been written about it.
