…hy we don’t build skyscrapers from stone blocks carved from quarries by craftsmen using iron tools. It’s why there will never, ever, be a sustained colony on Mars or even on the Moon.

I agree. Humans will never mine the asteroids. Humans will never colonize Mars. We might have a limited presence on the moon like the ISS. But that’s not to say we’ll get our robots to mine the moon and/or asteroids.
