Blame Biden For This Mess
He didn’t keep his promise from 2020
It’s the day after another crazy election outcome and Trump is going to be our next president. The majority of people that voted have spoken. It wasn’t a decisive win like when Obama won in 2008 and got 365 electoral votes but Trump will be lucky to get 300 or so votes getting roughly the same as Biden in 2020 which was also hardly a landslide.
The biggest thing that stands out to me the day after is how few people voted in this election compared to 2020. There was something like 157 million votes cast in 2020. In 2024 it is around 137 million, down 20 million votes or around a 15% decline in votes cast. Biden had 81 million votes in 2020 and Harris could only get 67 million which is a drop of almost 15 million votes.
That is huge and tells a story of apathy. It wasn’t so much that there was a huge swing of new voters for Trump, it was that so many people decided it wasn’t in their interest to vote for Harris this time. If the Democrats had the turnout they had in 2020, it was easily in the bag for them.
